Summary:
Although God expects us to use the minds that He has given us and appreciates our ability to make decisions, it is always wise to seek His direction because we are not infallible and therefore can make choices that (just as in this story) can leave us in a “dry place.”
We know that God is trustworthy; He will always provide the best for us. And, because of our Heavenly Father’s highest attribute is Love, He will forgive us for our mistakes and deliver us from calamities we cause upon ourselves. This is not because we deserve it; it is because of who we are to Him. Knowing this should be the catalyst of our decision making, especially when it involves our livelihood and that of others.
Moreover, is His vindication and protection which out weights our own merits for victory. Therefore we stand to gain more if we seek His Divine help.
Scriptures:
No matter how bad things look don’t blame God!
Don’t slander His Love for you, His purpose for your life as a believer, because you know better!
You know That:
-
He loves you
-
His Will is to bless and prosper yo
-
He is with you … even in your mess-up
-
That His character is Righteous
David said that even if he made his bed in hell, he knew that the Lord was with Him.
Psalm 139:7 - 8 “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.”
Don’t give up … Look up!
Psalm 121:1-2 “I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.”
Seek the Lord
Psalm 18:6 “In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.”
Don’t allow your emotion to overwhelm you to think that God has left you to suffer.
Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
Life Experience Exercise:
Being completely honest, journal how you feel or the ways you've felt that God has placed you in a "dry place" to teach you a lesson. Then think back on the events or steps you took, decisions you've made or advice you listened to that caused the dilemma you're in. Then answer this question, was it God? If you come (and you should) to the conclusion that it was not, begin to seek God for His Divine help. Pray first for forgiveness for accusing Him.
Six ways to get and stay Active
4: Get support.
Get a family member or friend to be physically active with you. It may be more fun, and your buddy can cheer you on and help you stick with it.
