POWER WEDNESDAY: The Bible mentions two very important seasons of rain: the "former or early rain" which occurred in the Fall at the time of seed planting and the "latter rain" in the Spring, which improved the quality of the harvest. Between the two seasons, rain was sparse.

Both of these provisional rains can illustrate the seasons in our lives when we need more of God's help than usual. To pray for the "latter rain" is praying in faith and trust with expectation of an abundance of God's mercy, provision and grace after a challenging time in our lives. The "latter rain" is very important because it helps to flourish, mature and strengthen us so that we stand tall after the experience.

Zechariah 10:1 "Ask the LORD for rain in the spring, for he makes the storm clouds. And he will send showers of rain so every field becomes a lush pasture."
