Prayer Focus - Unity in Prayer for Others

Matthew 18:19-20 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

Above personal prayer is the power of unity in prayer by believers. This Scripture shows us that it really only takes one other person joining in prayer with the same purpose to ignite heavenly power.

Unity in prayer extends beyond simply asking God; it points out the love that we have for one another, shows how we can genuinely be concerned about someone’s welfare and proves how our hearts can be opened to feel someone else’s burden because we sincerely love the Lord.

Application and Prayer Journal Entry:

Make an appointment to pray with a family member, friend, church member or someone who pours into your life spiritually. When you do, let them know how much you love them and want to see God bless them in the area they need it the most. With a heart filled with love and concern for them, ask them if you can pray in agreement with them regarding something they’re seeking God for. When you pray (see prayer instructions below), be specific, praying only for that matter. After you’ve prayed, journal your feelings and how the other person received your prayer.

Scripture Study:

James 5:16 “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

Acts 1:14 “These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.”

Reflection: Pages 29 – 30

We should be careful not to give God instructions on how to provide blessings and deliverance when we pray in unity with someone else. Notice this mistake when you pray in general.

Prayer:

Pray asking the Lord to place someone on your heart that needs agreement in prayer. Ask Him to prepare their heart to receive your prayer. Pray for an anointing that will speak words of wisdom and power that will break yokes and bring hope, peace and encouragement to that person.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SERVING AND PORTION SIZE

A “portion” is how much food you choose to eat at one time, whether in a restaurant, from a package, or in your own kitchen. A “serving” size is the amount of food listed on a product’s Nutrition Facts. Sometimes, the portion size and serving size match; sometimes they do not. Keep in mind that the serving size on the Nutrition Facts is not a recommended amount of food to eat. It is a quick way of letting you know the calories and nutrients in a certain amount of food.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Nutrition Facts information is printed on most packaged foods. It tells you how many calories and how much fat, carbohydrate, sodium, and other nutrients are available in one serving of food. Most packaged foods contain more than a single serving. The serving sizes that appear on food labels are based on FDA-established lists of foods. (For more information, see www.cfsan.fda.gov.)
