Prayer Focus - Thankfulness and Personal Communion

Psalm 107:1 “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.”

You’ve come to the end of your 21 Days of Prayer Commitment that has enlightened, inspired and empowered you. Your prayer journey has increased your faith, strengthened your relationship with your Heavenly Father and fortified your prayer life. This is the perfect time to celebrate by taking Communion to give thanks to the Lord for what He did for you at Calvary, what He has done through this prayer journey and for what He will continue to do in your life.

Scripture Study: Communion

Luke 22:19-20 “And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.  Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.”

1st Corinthians 11:23-25 “For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as (Greek meaning “as many times” suggesting to do so often) ye drink it, in remembrance of me.”

1st Corinthians 10:16 “Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?”

Reflection and Journal Entry:

Reflect back on your 21 Days of Prayer Commitment Journey and journal the lessons that impacted your prayer life the most.

Prayer and Communion

Thank God for dying on the cross for your sins and then take communion. Afterwards, thank Him for all that you’ve learned on this journey and ask Him to keep it fresh in your mind and heart. Begin to quote Scriptures of His blessings and promises. Give Him praise with a grateful heart.

diet tip

DIET MYTH: Starches are fattening and should be limited when trying to lose weight.

Fact: Many foods high in starch, like bread, rice, pasta, cereals, beans, fruits, and some vegetables (like potatoes and yams) are low in fat and calories. They become high in fat and calories when eaten in large portion sizes or when covered with high-fat toppings like butter, sour cream, or mayonnaise. Foods high in starch (also called complex carbohydrates) are an important source of energy for your body.

Tip: A healthy eating plan is one that:

  • Emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products.

  • Includes lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, and nuts.

  • Is low in saturated fats, trans fat, cholesterol, salt (sodium), and added sugars.
